New randomlygifted update brings more gift ideas and hopefully less garbage
One of my many side projects is randomlygifted, a random gift idea generator. It’s a site that constantly searches through Amazon, finds cool stuff (mostly) and then spits it out in a completely random fashion. I like to use it as a nice starting point when trying to figure out what kind of gifts to get people.
22 Days in Japan, Day 18: Exploring Togakushi
It’s a dark, cloudy day. The sun is nowhere to be found in Nagano.
Since the ryokan (Japanese inn) that I’m currently staying in isn’t close to Togura station (about a 25 minute walk), Tyler the innkeeper gives me a lift, getting there just as the train is coming in.
22 Days in Japan, Day 10: A Trip to the Zoo
Today’s my last real day in Nagoya, and I closed it, in part, by going to the zoo. I haven’t been to the zoo in 10 years.
22 Days in Japan, Day 8: Don’t Go To Nagoya Castle at 5 PM
Day 8. One week of my trip is now officially over. Tokyo is long gone, and I’m now in Nagoya, after a three-hour shinkansen run where I amused myself by alternating between sleeping and playing 1990s era computer games on my laptop. And drinking my free orange juice.
22 Days in Japan, Day 7: At Least I Did Some Laundry
Today I wake up late, and accomplish a whole lot of nothing, unless you count the fact that I actually manage to sleep in. To me that’s a huge win.
22 Days in Japan, Day 6: I Went to a Wild Wild West Ramen Museum
Today starts out as a continuation of yesterday, at least weather-wise. Overcast with a slight drizzle, things are looking grim.
22 Days in Japan, Day 5: Maybe I Should’ve Gone in April
Rain, rain, and more rain. It’s Day 5, and it’s just sopping wet outside.
22 Days in Japan, Day 4: Akihabara, and Eight Sentences About Roppongi
The Roppongi area in Tokyo is pretty much *the place* for foreigner nightlife. So of course, I go there during the day. And at 11am, it’s not a very touristy place.
22 Days in Japan, Day 3: Shibuya, Shrines, Love and AIDS
Well, I have to admit I did a little better this morning, waking up at around 5:30 am. If this trend keeps up I might be back to normal in oh, a week. Damn you jet lag!
22 Days in Japan, Day 2: It’s 4:03 and I can’t sleep
Day 2. Tokyo, Japan. I wake up around 4 am and can’t get back to sleep. Jet lag is a real, real pain. And believe it or not, the sun’s already poking out. Land of the rising sun indeed.
22 Days in Japan, Day 1: A Rainy Start
Day 1. Trip start. Today is the first day in what will hopefully prove to be an entertaining study of Japanese culture, the first of 22 days in Japan. Warning: long post ahead.
22 Days in Japan, A Series
I spent the past three weeks (+1 day) frolicking in the vast wilderness known as Japan. By myself. It was quite the experience, one of those crazy midlife crisis trips that you only seriously consider once in your life.
